Why Horses?

We love these animals and yet, so often, the struggle is real!

The equestrian life envisioned usually looks quite different than the reality. Sure, we still love our animals, but why is it so hard and what is the fix?

The solution is simple. Trust, desire, and communication.

Trust is earned, so be consistent. Horses hate grey, they much prefer black and white. Kind of like using a solid leash with your dog versus a retractable or elastic one. One gives and one doesn’t. Oddly, horses like knowing the rules and boundaries, so no elastic, no grey, no unclear signals.

Communication is paramount, and it’s a two-way corridor, not just a master commanding an animal to do as he is told. Learning to listen with your eyes is a trick that many don’t fully appreciate until they have a horse.

Become the confident equestrian you’ve always dreamed of, one joyful lesson at a time by learning to communicate with your horse on his terms. This simply means that you, the human must learn to speak and comprehend the language of the horse, and communicate in that manner. Sound hard? It’s not, I promise. It takes time, but we like spending time with our horses, so it’s a win-win!

Understand why he acts the way he does and you can help him want to be the horse you envision. Because his desire to do well is what motivates him. Your desire for him to comply motivates you. These two things go together like marshmallows and chocolate.

The best part? It’s not work. It’s not difficult. It’s not rote memorization or endless drills.
